TITLE: SALVATION IS EASY

TEXT: ROMANS 10:9  “...[I]f thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (-Romans 10:9, Bible.)

PREPOSITIONAL SENTENCE: WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED!

INTRODUCTION

(Romans 10:8-10) “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved! For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Today we are going to look at the two thieves who were crucified with Christ, especially the one who acknowledged Jesus as Lord. We will see that whosoever invokes or petitions the Lord for help, always receive it. For Jesus himself Said that whosoever cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out! We will also consider Peter’s cry for help, when he began sinking, (after walking on the water to go to Jesus).

A. TWO THIEVES CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

(Luke 23:39-43) And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, if thou be the Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Doest thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord; remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today thou shalt be with me in paradise! This thief confessed Jesus as Lord, (according to Romans 10:9), and received eternal life, on the spot!

B. WHOSOEVER

(Acts 2:21) …It shall come to pass, that whosoever, shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved!
Whosoever shall call (invoke or petition)….shall be saved, (delivered from sin, rescued from danger or harm, protected, preserved, guarded from injury, destruction or loss)! Hell is both destructive and harmful!

C. PETER CRIES OUT

(Matthew 14:29-30) Peter got out of the ship and walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him… Peter invoked Jesus! He petitioned Jesus for help! The thief petitioned Jesus for help, when he said: Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

*“To save” in the technical biblical sense is: (a). to deliver from penalties of the Messianic judgment! (b). to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance.
